EXCLUSIVE

On 19 April Silversea will officially launch their newest ultra-luxury ship, Silver Muse. The milestone event will be marked by a glittering ceremony in Monaco before the ship sails with her first lucky guests. Amber Wilson, Managing Director of Silversea Asia Pacific, gave us an exclusive Silver Muse preview.

Silver Muse will arguably be one of the most luxurious cruise ships launched in 2017. The ultra-luxury accommodations will set new standards with a 146 sq. m. / 1,572 sq. ft. Grand Suite and a lavish Owners Suite boasting one of the biggest teak verandas at sea as well as a spa-style marble bathroom.

The Silver Muse will be the ninth ship in the Silversea fleet. Constructed over 14 months it represents a massive investment. “It is the culmination of everything we’ve learned at Silversea. It’s an evolution while staying true to our Italian heritage”, Ms. Wilson told us.

Top-notch service

With room for 596 discerning travellers Silver Muse will be the largest ship in the Silversea fleet, but that doesn’t mean guests will feel cramped. “The space-to-guests and staff-to-guest ratios on Silver Muse will remain very high”, said Ms. Wilson. Indeed there will be 2 crew members for every 3 guests, ensuring everyone gets the excellent service Silversea is famed for. “Service is the number one point of different at Silversea”, Ms. Wilson added.

Ultra-luxury accommodation

While Silver Muse is an evolution of the Silversea product, it is much more than simply ‘Silver Spirit mark 2’. Many areas of the ship have been entirely redesigned, including the suites.

Silver Muse will have more large suites than any other ship in the fleet. There will be 34 of the popular Silver Suites and 4 super-luxurious Owners Suites. Unlike her sister ships Silver Muse will have no Vista Suites – all her grades of accommodation boast a private teak veranda.

The decor in all suites on Silver Muse has been given a softer touch thanks to a palate of creams, teal and grey, with dark timber accents.

The furnishings also have a cleaner, more minimalist look that creates a greater sense of space, making the accommodations seem even roomier.

Food, glorious food

The biggest change on Silver Muse will be range of dining options available. Silver Muse will be a foodies paradise. There are no fewer than 9 different restaurants including the revamped Hot Rocks and the new Spaccanapoli, serving Napalese style pizza around the pool deck.

“The amount of restaurants on such a small ship is unprecedented”, Amber Wilson told us. “There will be a great variety of cuisine. It’s very important to guests to have different options for dining.”

La Dame by Relais & Châteaux is another new venue onboard. It is an evolution of Silversea’s fine dining restaurant Le Champagne and will represent the highest expression of excellence in French cuisine.

The Kaiseki Japanese restaurant is also new and an evolution of the popular Seishin on Silver Spirit. It will serve teppanyaki and other carefully prepared favourites. Indochine continues the Asian theme and is an entirely new concept that will take diners on a pan-Asian journey of discovery from India to Vietnam.

Atlantide is yet another new dining venue on Silver Muse. Located on deck 4 next to Indochine, it is an elegant bar and grill dishing up the finest the sea has to offer like royal crab, blue lobster and Verbena infused red snapper in a sea salt crust.

Silversea’s tapas-style jazz restaurant Stars Supper Club has morphed into Silver Note on Silver Muse, but the high quality food offering remains unchanged. Also unchanged is the signature La Terrazza restaurant with it’s delightful al fresco dining and stunning wake views.

It’s all about family

At a time when most of the worlds cruise lines have be swallowed up by large corporations, Silversea is unique, retaining a family ownership.

The Lefebvre family started the company back in the 90’s and Manfredi Lefebvre, the son of the company’s founder, is chairman of the board today. Amber Wilson says the input of the family has been integral to bringing Silver Muse from drawing board to dry dock. “The owner is also the chairman and he’s hands on. Any decisions that are made come over his desk.”

According to Ms. Wilson that hands on approach makes all the difference. “Because Silversea is a family owned company there is a deep relationship and an understanding of our guests that goes back many years. This relationship has helped shape everything about Silver Muse.”
